Define the test before ordering trial tooling

When preparing trial-tool samples, it is easy to begin with “How many do you need?” In project communication I have encountered an earlier question: what will the samples test, and do they represent the state that needs evaluation?

Without a defined purpose, the quantity lacks a basis. Discovering a need for filling, assembly or another state after dispatch can require another sample round.

Is the round for appearance, assembly, filling and formulation compatibility observations, function or storage performance? List the purposes rather than let the word testing cover everything.

The validation owner confirms the required materials, parts and states. Unloaded and use states, or different revisions, belong in the plan if they need comparison.

I ask the test owner to explain the sample needs for each state, including any retest, retained sample or comparison requirements. The supplier then confirms availability and limitations.

There is no universal sample quantity here. The responsible team determines the method, representativeness and decision basis for the actual question. The relationship between trial-tool samples and production also needs explanation.

Retain the next action with the dispatch record

Section titled “Retain the next action with the dispatch record”

With each shipment, I want the purpose, revision, state, recipient, feedback point and required records to be clear. Courier receipt completes transport, not testing.

    A practical request is:

Before we prepare this round, please confirm the test purpose, required assembly or filled states and the quantity basis for each. We will check what samples we can supply and their representativeness limitations, then agree the feedback record and next decision point.

Define the test before the quantity so the samples can return a usable decision.
